Data cable doesn't work to download pics, videos, etc.

I have the Samsung Propel phone (SAMA767-green) and want to download my pictures and videos onto my laptop. I have downloaded Samsung's PC Studio 3 software, but it will not recognize my phone. The data cable works to charge the phone though the laptop but will not download data. Please help! :ah:
